Brandon Aiyuk, agent mum on details of first meeting with 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers‘ meeting with wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and his agent Drew Rosenhaus concluded Friday without a resolution.

After about an hour inside the 49ers’ business offices in Santa Clara Rosenhaus, Aiyuk and a third party wearing an NFL Players Association backpack emerged. Rosenhaus briefly addressed the press gaggle outside the building as he walked past them to their vehicle according to a video posted by the Athletic’s Matt Barrows.

“Hey guys. Too be continued,” Rosenhaus said. “We don’t have any further statements right now, but when we do we’ll let you know.”

When asked how the meeting went Rosenhaus responded, “nothing to report yet. Thanks, everybody. We’ll keep you updated.”

Aiyuk spoke briefly in response to a question about who the pair met with.

“We met with the bosses, man,” Aiyuk said. “Big bosses.”

Head coach Kyle Shanahan on Friday said he would not be among those in attendance.

It’s unclear for now what the next steps are as Aiyuk tries to resolve his rift with the 49ers that includes a $13 million payment owed by the wide receiver to the team. His reinstatement to the NFL depends upon a resolution to that financial matter. San Francisco releasing Aiyuk upon his reinstatement continues to be the likeliest conclusion to this nearly two-year long saga.
