Boston Hunters vs San Francisco Firebells — WPBL Discussion thread
The final game of the regular season is tonight!
After tonight’s game the regular season will come to an end. All four WPBL teams will look to the postseason which starts next week. The semifinals round schedule is already set and will be as follows:

That’s enough about what happens next week. There’s still one more regular season game to look forward to tonight!
The 4-10 Boston Hunters will be taking on the 9-5 San Francisco Firebells for the fifth and final time of the regular season.
The Firebells scored a total of 24 more runs than the Hunters in their previous four matchups and won every game. Tonight, the Hunters will look prove that they are capable of competing against the Firebells before their semifinals matchup next week.
It’s the final game of the regular season. Tonight’s Boston vs. San Francisco matchup will serve as a Postseason preview, with these two teams facing each other again on Wednesday as the 2026 WPBL Inaugural Season semifinals get underway.

In addition to being a preview of the postseason, tonight’s game will act as the final chance for Firebells two-way star Kelsi Whitmore’s to catch N.Y. Heights catcher Danae Benites in the home run chase. Entering tonight Whitmore has ten home runs which trails Benites’ 11.
The race could be tied with one swing of the bat by Whitmore or won with two. It’s not likely that she will pull ahead in the race… but it’s not impossible as Whitmore already has two multi-homer games this season.
