Bosch Creator Michael Connelly Officially Confirms Release Month for ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’s Final Season

· · 6 min read

Netflix is arguably the biggest streaming service in the world with a string of acclaimed shows and movies. With each passing year, the streaming service works to keep audiences hooked with returning series, such as Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen, Keri Russell‘s The Diplomat, and Emily in Paris, among others. While simultaneously delivering on brand-new titles which hold equal pull and quality, as projects like Alan Ritchson’s War Machine and Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man (starring Cillian Murphy and Rebecca Ferguson) confirmed.

While Netflix has an all-too-familiar reputation of canceling shows prematurely in some people’s eyes, the streaming service has, in other cases, given stories the required time to properly develop and build before concluding. At the moment, the streaming service has several of its biggest shows in that docket. Some of the shows heading towards the finish line include the aforementioned Emily in Paris, the fantasy series The Witcher, the mysterious A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, and the spy thriller The Night Agent. Netflix is also home to some impressive legal dramas, like Suits and The Law According to Lidia Poët, but arguably its most recognizable member of that genre is headed for the finish line.

After a 4-season run, The Lincoln Lawyer, starring Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Mickey Haller aka The Lincoln Lawyer, is poised to end. Netflix renewed The Lincoln Lawyer for Season 5 ahead of the Season 4 premiere, but the coming season will conclude the courtroom drama. Given the popularity of the show, the news was a difficult pill to swallow for fans of the legal thriller, especially given that it seemed as though more seasons could be extracted from the character. The series is based on Michael Connelly‘s novel series, and the author, while recently promoting the release of his new Harry Bosch novel, The Hollow, discussed the future of Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer. After recently confirming Season 5’s return year as 2027, the original author and executive producer of the series added specificity during a Q&A shared by The Spokesman-Review. Season 5 of The Lincoln Lawyer will be released on Netflix in March 2027:

“There’s a season that’s finished for The Lincoln Lawyer. It’ll come out in March.”

“There’s a season that’s finished for The Lincoln Lawyer. It’ll come out in March.”

Four Netflix characters, four completely different ways of showing up
for somebody. This is the one who fits how you actually do friendship, and what having them in your
life would be like.

You do not do friendship at half volume, and neither does he.
What you want is somebody who says yes to the plan before you have finished describing the
plan.

  • Dustin is the friend the entire show runs on: loyal past the point of sense,
enthusiastic about everything, and incapable of leaving anybody behind.
  • You have the same instinct. Your friendships are loud, specific and slightly ridiculous,
and they last for decades because of it.
  • He is also the one person who would take your strangest interest completely seriously,
which is far rarer than it sounds.
  • You would have a group chat. It would never once be quiet.

You are the friend who makes things happen, and so is she.
Together you would be mildly exhausting to everyone around you and completely delighted with
yourselves.

  • Emily treats an ordinary Tuesday as something that could be turned into an occasion,
which is either the best or the worst quality in a friend depending on your energy
    levels.
  • You share her refusal to sit still. Neither of you has ever accepted a night in when
    something was happening somewhere else.
  • She is far more loyal than people give her credit for. She defends her friends loudly,
publicly, and occasionally before checking the facts.
  • She would post the photo without asking. You would forgive her, because it is a very
    good photo.

You have no patience for pleasant lies, and she has no ability to
tell them. What looks like coldness from the outside is the most reliable friendship on this
list.

  • Wednesday never says a kind thing she does not mean, which makes the rare ones count for
    an enormous amount.
  • You would rather be told the truth than be made comfortable. She is constitutionally
incapable of offering you anything else.
  • Underneath all of it she is ferociously protective. She simply refuses to make a
    performance out of caring.
  • Do not expect a birthday message. Do expect her to ruin anyone who wrongs you.

You look after whoever is having the worst day. So does he. It is
the least strategic way to move through the world and the best possible quality in a friend.

  • Gi-hun is not the strongest player in Squid Game, or the cleverest. He is the one who
keeps choosing to protect somebody else, over and over, at genuine cost to himself.
  • You have the same instinct. You notice who is struggling and you stay with them, long
after anybody would blame you for leaving.
  • He is a flawed friend, and that is part of why it lands. He lets people down, then comes
back and tries again, which is more than most manage.
  • He would give you his last chance and never once mention that he had done it.

The Lincoln Lawyer has established itself as being more than just a courtroom drama. As the title implies, the Netflix series goes beyond the courtroom antics and attorneys taking metaphorical swings at one other, to something more layered. Yes. The Lincoln Lawyer is a layered drama with matters of the heart, tough topics on addiction, poignant emotional moments of grief and the struggles of parenting. So, could the series have continued beyond its now confirmed final fifth season? The answer is yes, as confirmed by series creator and writer, Ted Humphrey, in an interview with Collider, who admitted that “we could have kept this show going for another season or two, and we had ideas to do that.”

While we might not get a sixth season of Garcia-Rulfo as The Lincoln Lawyer, Netflix is working on developing a spin-off series set in the same universe. The Season 4 finale, which revealed that Mickey Haller had a half-sister, Emi Finch, whom he never knew about. Cobie Smulders is set to reprise the role, and Netflix is set to lean on this new character. No word yet on whether Mickey Haller will have any sort of role in the new series.

The Lincoln Lawyer Season 5 is expected to premiere in March 2027. Stay tuned for further updates as we learn more about the show’s final chapter and its planned spin-off.
