Bo Bryan injury update: Luke Bryan's son to miss time with broken collarbone

· · 2 min read

After suffering a shoulder injury on Battle Ground Academy’s (TN) first offensive drive against Pope John Paul II (TN) on Oct. 16, Bo Bryan, the son of country music star Luke Bryan, announced that the injury will force him out for some time.

Bryan announced that he suffered a broken collarbone on his Instagram story. While he did not clarify if it was a season-ending injury, Bo ended his post saying, “We will be back.”

After sitting behind former BGA standout and Mr. Football winner Kaedyn Marable for three years, Bryan finally earned his shot at a starting nod and made the most of it before the injury.

Entering Friday night’s game, he was one of the leading contenders to win the Division II-AA Mr. Football award having completed 74% of his passes for 2,006 yards and 30 touchdowns with only three interceptions.

Against Franklin Road Academy (TN) on Sept. 25, he set a career-best in passing yards with 409 as well as touchdowns with six in a 41-36 win. A week later he set a new career-best in touchdown passes with seven as the Wildcats beat Davidson Academy 56-7.

According to 247Sports, Bryan is ranked as a three-star prospect. He holds offers from Austin Peay, Eastern Kentucky, ETSU, North Alabama and UT Martin but has also taken several trips to Georgia.

With Bryan out, BGA will have to find a new answer at quarterback as they look to repeat as the TSSAA Division II champions. 2028 four-star wide receiver Maximus Curry stepped in for Bryan on Friday night and led BGA to a 35-0 win over the Knights despite having never played quarterback before.

Curry completed three of his six pass attempts for 53 yards and a touchdown but also had two interceptions. Playing primarily out of the Wildcat formation, he also carried the ball 11 times for 82 yards and a touchdown.

BGA (7-1) has two games remaining in the regular season before kicking off postseason play in November. The Wildcats host Goodpasture (TN) on Oct. 23 and then travel to Grace Christian Academy (TN) on Oct. 30.
