Blow for Arsenal? Bayern close to securing major summer signing after ‘breakthrough’ in negotiation

Bayern Munich are close to securing their first signing of the summer transfer window. 

The player in question is Nathaniel Brown, who is currently with the Germany squad, preparing for the World Cup in the United States.

Arsenal and Manchester City were linked with a move for Brown, but it appears that Bayern have moved ahead of others.

The Bavarian giants were interested in Anthony Gordon, but the versatile winger chose to join Barcelona instead.

Bayern are also interested in Ismael Saibari, but as it stands, they have not yet reached an agreement with the PSV Eindhoven attacking midfielder.

Christian Falk has informed CFBayern Insider that Bayern have achieved a breakthrough in negotiations for the versatile left-back.

The 22-year-old is expected to move from Eintracht Frankfurt for a fee just under 65 million euros, including bonuses.

Frankfurt insist that the bonuses should not be too high compared to the fixed fee. However, all parties are confident that the deal will be finalised in the coming days, likely before Germany’s World Cup opener.

The Gunners were looking for a versatile defender this summer, and Brown came up as an option for them.

Falk previously told us that Bayern were encouraged by the fact that the defender wanted to play under Vincent Kompany.

In such a scenario, Bayern appeared as the frontrunner in the race, and all the two German clubs needed was to reach an agreement,

Brown has established himself as a reliable full-back, capable of playing at both right and left-back, although he mostly plays on the left.

His potential arrival will raise questions about the future of Alphonso Davies, who has struggled with injuries in the past 18 months.

Bayern are still in the market to add a new centre-back, especially if either Hiroki Ito or Kim Min-jae is sold.
