Blow for Ajax as striker suffers season ending injury

· · 1 min read

Ajax have been dealt a blow with the news that Danish striker Kasper Dolberg will be out for the rest of the season. Dolberg suffered a serious knee injury while on international duty with Denmark and has returned to Amsterdam for surgery, which was successful. Now, the Ajax forward is set to spend the next few months rehabilitating as he looks to return to action next season. The 29-year-old had started the Eredivisie and European season pretty well, scoring three goals and providing three assists in nine games for Ajax.

Without Dolberg, Ajax will certainly look to give Wolves loanee Tolu Arokodare more game time. The former Genk striker has started well at Ajax, scoring six goals in just nine games, with two assists. The Nigerian looks set to have a strong season in Dutch football, perhaps even reaching the levels he showed for Genk. Arokodare’s best season so far was during the 2024/2025 campaign where he scored 23 goals in 45 games for Genk. If Arokodare can hit similar numbers, Ajax may well find themselves in the title race come the end of the season.
