Birmingham teenager Guernier poised to join AC Milan

Teenage Birmingham midfielder Aurelien Guernier is poised to join AC Milan.

The 18-year-old has agreed a three-year deal to move to the San Siro this summer.

Birmingham wanted to keep Guernier and had offered him new terms but he has opted to leave the club.

Blues wanted him to develop at St Andrew’s but recognised Guernier was able to talk to others.

He was included in the squad in Birmingham’s 1-0 Championship win over QPR in March but did not play for the first team.

There was interest from Europe and the Premier League but Guernier will move to Milan to link up with the B team.

Guernier follows England and Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham and brother Jobe, who both moved to Borussia Dortmund, in leaving Birmingham for a European giant.
