James Cook III saved another powerful punch for the closing minutes of Monday Night Football. He gave the Buffalo Bills a timely boost in their shootout against the Los Angeles Rams. With the fourth quarter winding down at SoFi Stadium, the star running back powered into the end zone to cap a clutch drive and give Buffalo a 34-27 lead. The touchdown marked Cook’s second score of the night. It added to an explosive 17-yard touchdown run earlier in the contest. His late-game finish energized the Bills’ sideline and reinforced his importance to an offense needing answers in a high-pressure road matchup.

Cook’s second touchdown was the exclamation point on another workhorse performance. He already surpassed 100 rushing yards, finishing with 108 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries against a physical Rams front. His combination of acceleration, contact balance and ability to grind out tough yards kept Buffalo moving when the offense needed to control the tempo. Cook’s production was particularly valuable with quarterback Josh Allen facing pressure and right tackle Spencer Brown leaving the game with an apparent injury.

The reigning NFL rushing champion has continued to set the tone for Buffalo in 2026. Entering Week 5, Cook was averaging 105.3 rushing yards per game at six yards per carry. He has built on his dominant 2025 campaign. He also delivered consecutive 130-plus-yard performances against Detroit and the Chargers. Cook has established himself as a central piece of Joe Brady’s offensive attack. His latest two-touchdown outing pushed his season totals beyond 500 rushing yards and five scores. As Buffalo pursues another deep postseason run, Cook’s ability to shoulder a heavy workload and deliver in critical moments remains one of the Bills’ biggest advantages.
