· · 2 min read

Colorado running back Micah Welch has entered the top 10 in rushing yards in the Big 12 following his 100-yard performance against Weber State during the Buffaloes’ home opener. This marked the first time since Deion Sanders took over as head coach in 2023 that a Colorado player rushed for over 100 yards.

In other Big 12 action, Cincinnati running back Gi’Bran Payne had another 100-yard game against West Carolina with 102 yards and two touchdowns. Although their quarterback, JC French, did not have a rushing touchdown in that game, he is still tied for the most rushing touchdowns in the Big 12.

Reigning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, BYU running back LJ Martin, had a quiet game in the first week of the season. While he has yet to have a 100-yard rushing game this season, he nearly got there against Arizona with 98 yards on 20 attempts. He has yet to score a rushing touchdown this season despite having 12 touchdowns last year.

Here are the top 10 rushers in the Big 12 in rushing yards after Week 2:
