Best performers from 49ers preseason victory vs. Raiders

After falling to the Tennessee Titans and blowing out the Los Angeles Chargers, the San Francisco 49ers wrapped up their preseason with a 18-12 win over the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium on Thursday.

San Francisco kept most of their starters on the bench for this one, while Las Vegas had more starters going early in the contest.

While we work our way through this result, let’s take a look at some of the best performers from this 49ers‘ win.

Pineiro continues to prove that he’s well worth the money that the 49ers paid him this offseason. He made all six of his field goals and scored the only points for San Francisco in the win. It’s a huge win to have a kicker that you can rely on.

San Francisco’s fifth-round pick has popped often throughout training camp and the preseason. On Thursday, he had a game-high 10 tackles and two quarterback hits, and even caught the attention of NFL Hall of Famer Patrick Willis.

Without Deommodore Lenoir, Renardo Green, Upton Stout or Nate Hobbs playing in this game, San Francisco had to rely on their depth quite a bit. Jack Jones got the start and finished with three tackles and a pass defensed, where he jumped a route. Luter played later on, finishing with one tackle and two passes defensed.

Siran Neal also deserves some love. He’s spent most of camp as a safety, but he stepped in at cornerback and delivered, recording three tackles and a pair of passes defensed.

San Francisco kept Christian McCaffrey on the sideline for this contest, which gave some opportunities for Khalil Herbert, Jordan James, Kaelon Black and Sincere McCormick. The first three in that group combined for 102 rushing yards on 5.1 yards per attempt. McCormick was clearly the odd man out, as he rushed for just eight yards on seven attempts.

The 49ers’ passing attack wasn’t overly effective against Las Vegas’ defense, but the one guy who found success was their 2025 fourth-round pick. Watkins caught four passes in this one for 64 yards. He was the only 49er who caught more than two passes.
