Benue: Police present insurance cheques to families of deceased officers

The Benue State Police Command has presented insurance cheques to families of police officers who died in the course of service.

The presentation was held on Tuesday at the Command Headquarters in Makurdi as part of efforts by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to provide support to families of officers who lost their lives while serving the country.

According to a statement issued by the Command and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Orchia Peter Aondongu, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the gesture was aimed at providing relief to the bereaved families.

Presenting the cheques, the Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, CP Cletus C.N. Nwadiobu, conveyed the condolences and warm regards of the Inspector-General of Police to the families over the loss of their loved ones.

Nwadiobu acknowledged that no financial assistance could adequately compensate for the loss of a loved one, noting that the insurance benefits were intended to provide some relief and support to the affected families.

He urged the beneficiaries to utilise the funds judiciously, particularly to address their immediate needs and cater to the welfare and education of the children left behind by the deceased officers.

The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their families.

He added that the Command would continue to support initiatives of the Inspector-General of Police aimed at assisting officers and families affected by deaths arising from service.
