Benfica nears Gianluca Prestianni contract extension until 2031

Benfica is close to agreeing a new contract with Gianluca Prestianni until June 2031, according to Bruno Andrade’s report for Maisfutebol. The proposed extension includes a pay rise for the 20-year-old, whose productive start under Marco Silva has accelerated the club’s efforts to secure his future.

Record has corroborated the report, saying president Rui Costa made the renewal a priority following the winger’s early-season performances. The Portuguese newspaper describes the terms as almost settled, with the negotiations approaching an agreement.

Prestianni’s current deal runs until 2029, giving Benfica time to negotiate without the pressure of an approaching expiry date. Adding another two seasons would strengthen that position while allowing the club to reward a player whose contribution in attack has grown.

By the time the renewal story emerged on September 17, Prestianni had recorded eight goals and two assists in his first 11 appearances of the campaign. Those returns help explain why Benfica wants to revisit his terms so early in the season.

His eighth goal came against Gil Vicente on September 13, when he scored for the third successive league game. The run has given Silva a regular source of goals from a player still only in the early stages of his senior career.

Prestianni has also spoken positively about continuing in Europe. Arriving in Argentina for international duty, he told TyC Sports that he was happy there and wanted to make the most of his opportunity, according to comments carried by Record on September 22.

The renewal work extends beyond Prestianni. Andrade also reports that Benfica has submitted contract proposals to Anatoliy Trubin and Andreas Schjelderup, with those discussions expected to receive further attention once the Argentine’s extension is completed.

The reporting places Prestianni’s negotiations close to completion, with final agreement and official confirmation still outstanding. No salary figure has been disclosed, while the proposals to Trubin and Schjelderup remain separate negotiations.
