Behind Max Allegri’s Napoli struggles: From De Bruyne to De Laurentiis disappointment

Serie A side Napoli haven’t exactly seen too many positives so far this season. At the weekend, they were held to a 1-1 draw by Fiorentina and it is clear that Max Allegri doesn’t have things comfortable in Naples.

Now, murmurs of discontent are slowly growing. La Repubblica – via Calciomercato, add details to the scenario, revealing that there are tensions between Allegri and the Napoli dressing room.

The squad has been failing to respond to the Italian’s instructions and this was seen against La Viola. Allegri has tried a softer, less intense approach with the senior players but that hasn’t reaped rewards either.

While the manager feels betrayed, he is also disappointed that CEO Aurelio de Laurentiis has left Naples. He has skipped three games in recent weeks and Allegri feels left alone to handle a messy situation.

It doesn’t end there, as the Kevin De Bruyne situation is also causing worry. He believes putting the Belgian at the centre of the project isn’t a good idea. He is doing everything he can to please Napoli, even dropping Antonio Vergara from the line-up to accommodate De Bruyne. But this isn’t working, with the attacking midfielder not at his best.

The honeymoon period – it is believed, is over. Allegri has issues to solve quickly but things are clearly spiralling out of control.
