Bears legend believes Chicago has one flaw it must fix this season to win Super Bowl
At this point for the Chicago Bears, it feels fair to say that everybody understands what this team is going to be on the offensive side of the football.
If things go as planned, the Bears are going to continue to be one of the top offensive teams in the NFL, and honestly, it should only look better with Ben Johnson entering his second year and Caleb Williams continuing to develop at a very high level.
Williams is undoubtedly one of the better players in the NFL, and there’s a strong argument that he might already be a top-five quarterback in this league when he plays his best football. If he keeps improving, the future is as bright as any team in the league.
However, right now, the Bears are trying to win. While things might be very bright in the future, that doesn’t mean they want to wait long.
The Bears have Super Bowl aspirations, though one former player doesn’t know if they really have it in them to win it all because of some of the problems we’ve seen in recent years on the defensive side of the football.
“You’d like to see the Bears have 13-14 wins where you get home-field advantage, and you have a LA team come to Chicago deep in the playoffs when it’s cold,” Lance Briggs said, H/T Heavy.
“Defensively, we have to come up with consistent ways of number one, getting off the field on third down. Number two, we got to stop the run because if we can’t, that’s going to keep our offense off the field. Number three, get the ball back to our offense as many times as possible, and let them run away with it.”
The defense has been a problem for the Bears, but there’s also hope and expectation that, over the next few months, the organization will do what’s needed to improve on that side of the ball.
If the Bears can make a blockbuster deal for an elite edge rusher, let’s say Maxx Crosby, it would answer a lot of the questions.
Unfortunately, that’s much easier said than done, so for now, the defensive questions will continue to pop up, and be fair.
