Be ready to leave – US embassies to citizens in Middle East amid Iran tensions

· · 1 min read

The United States has advised its citizens across the Middle East to remain alert and be prepared to leave the region if security conditions worsen amid escalating tensions involving Iran.

In identical security alerts issued by US embassies in Jerusalem and several other Middle Eastern capitals, Americans were warned that the regional security situation remains volatile and could deteriorate without warning.

The notices stated that the “security environment remains complex” and cautioned that there is a possibility of sudden escalation, urging US citizens already in the region to consider departing or be ready to do so if the situation worsens.

The advisories also alleged that Iran has recently carried out attacks without prior warning and expanded its operations to locations that were not previously targeted, including Egypt, describing the Iranian government’s actions as unpredictable.

In addition, the embassies urged Americans outside the Middle East to reconsider any non-essential travel to or through the region and advised travellers to closely monitor airport operations and airline schedules, as disruptions could occur if tensions escalate.

Despite the heightened security concerns, the US embassies said they remain open and continue to provide routine consular and visa services.
