Bayern Munich star Luis Díaz reflects on his rough start to the season

Bayern Munich began the 2026/27 season fairly well, with the team only dropping points once as Bayern coach Vincent Kompany started rotating this early into the season. Luis Díaz had a particularly difficult start to the season, and he reflected on his struggles in an interview with Kerry Hau from Sky Germany (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia).

“I’ve always said that I will never lack the desire. The hunger for more, that will always be my mentality,” Díaz said. “I always want more; I always want to achieve more. No matter what happens, there may be times when I don’t play well or don’t find the back of the net… but I will always put in the effort and give everything for the team, giving 101% on the pitch. Everything else will come with time, step by step.

“I’m searching for the best version of myself, and I’ll find it soon,” the Colombian winger promised. “I believe that the goal will come in the next game. So, you also have to stay calm mentally, so that it doesn’t weigh on you. The important thing is to keep working and improving. I know it’s just about converting the chances. All that’s missing is the finishing, and then everything will be fine.”

In all fairness, the 29-year-old’s off-the-ball contributions were never in doubt. That’s what the club signed him for, but those watching the team would also like him to be more clinical because it’s those moments that make the difference in a match.
