Bayern Munich exec says club is waiting for doctors’ permission for Vincent Kompany’s return
Vincent Kompany is making good progress in his recovery from his collapse and hospitalization, with a return date of late November being targeted. Bayern’s director of sport Max Eberl would have wanted to see the Belgian back, but the club will not take risks with Kompany if he is not fully fit yet.
“Vinnie is making very good progress in his recovery. However, we still have to wait for the doctors’ green light before allowing him to return to Säbener Straße,” Eberl explained after the 2-1 win over Mainz (via Abendzeitung’s Patrick Strasser as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia).
Assistant coach and longtime Kompany confidant Aaron Danks stepped up to the plate and did a great job at managing the Bavarians while the former Manchester City defender was resting. Four wins and a draw in all competitions, including a mature 2-0 win over Atlético Madrid with several players out injured, is a respectable return for the 43-year-old Englishman.
