Bauchi constitutes visitation panel for ATAP, Aminu Saleh College of Education
The Bauchi State Government has constituted a seven-member visitation panel to review the administration and operations of the Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic (ATAP), Bauchi, and Aminu Saleh College of Education, Azare.
The panel, approved by Governor Bala Mohammed, will assess the institution’s administration, academic programmes, financial management, infrastructure, staff welfare and overall performance.
A statement issued by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, said the exercise was aimed at strengthening accountability, academic standards and institutional development in the state’s tertiary institutions.
The panel is chaired by former Vice-Chancellor of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Prof. Abdulrahman Saminu Ibrahim.
Other members are Prof. Muazu Saidu Badara of the Department of Accounting, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; Prof. Isa Mohammed of ATBU; Barr. Abdulhamid Abubakar Bununu; Abdon Dalla Gin; and former Auditor-General and Deputy Accountant-General, Aliyu Abdullahi Dambam.
The Director of Tertiary Education in the Ministry of Higher Education will serve as secretary to the panel.
According to the statement, the panel will engage the Polytechnic’s management, academic and non-academic staff, students, governing structures and other relevant stakeholders before submitting its findings and recommendations to the governor.
It added that the exercise was part of the state government’s efforts to ensure that tertiary institutions operate efficiently, transparently and in line with their statutory mandates.
The statement said the visitation panels would be inaugurated at 2pm today at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Governor’s Office, Government House, Bauchi.
