This comes after widespread confirmation was forthcoming that the 31-year-old has emerged as a leading target to reinforce Hansi Flick’s squad for next season.

Bernardo is considered a major market opportunity, set to be available as a free agent following the expiration of his Man City contract.

Speaking to the media whilst on international duty this weekend, the subject of a potential Camp Nou switch was therefore put to the versatile midfielder himself.

And Bernardo went on to admit that Barca are indeed in the running for his signature, though ‘there are many options’:

“Barcelona is one of the options but I’ve not made any final decision yet. There are many options and I have respect for all interested clubs.

“In the end I’m going to try to find a team where they want me, where I feel they really love me. That is very important and the day I make my decision they will know.”
