Barcelona monitors Estêvão amid limited playing time at Chelsea

Barcelona is monitoring Estêvão’s situation at Chelsea as the Brazilian struggles to secure regular Premier League minutes, according to SPORT in a report carried by FootballTransfers. Sporting director Deco is said to be following his progress, though the winger is not currently seeking an exit.

FootballTransfers reported on September 27 that the 19-year-old had played just 23 minutes across Chelsea’s first five league matches under Xabi Alonso.

There has been an opening in the cup. Chelsea’s match report from the 6-3 win over Leeds United records Estêvão starting in the Carabao Cup on September 9, before being withdrawn as part of four halftime substitutions. He was one of nine changes to Chelsea’s previous starting lineup.

Alonso had said that players short of minutes would be given an opportunity, according to Chelsea’s account. Estêvão was among those selected, but Cole Palmer’s introduction and two goals illustrated the competition for attacking places. For a young winger trying to build rhythm, the question is how those cup opportunities translate into league involvement.

The same FootballTransfers report says Estêvão remains focused on earning his place at Chelsea and is not currently looking to leave.

Chelsea has already invested considerable time in his development. The club agreed his arrival a year before he joined the squad in 2025, after he had represented Palmeiras at the Club World Cup and scored against his future employer in the quarterfinals.

His contract runs until 2033, FootballTransfers adds, giving Chelsea control over whether any future discussions advance.

Any proposal to bring him to La Liga would need to show where he fits alongside Lamine Yamal. Another battle for minutes would deserve as much consideration as Barcelona’s appeal.
