Ballon d’Or 2026: What’ll happen if Mbappe wins award – Ex-PSG winger, Rothen

Former Paris Saint-Germain winger, Jerome Rothen, has revealed what will happen if Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe wins the 2026 Ballon d’Or.

Mbappe is among the top contenders for the Ballon d’Or after finishing as the top scorer at the World Cup and also in the Champions League last season.

The France captain led his nation to the semi-final stage at the World Cup, and they ended up losing the third-place final against England.

Mbappe recently revealed that he deserves to win the Ballon d’Or ahead of other contenders like Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane.

However, Rothen believes Mbappe will end up feeling mighty lonely if he wins the Ballon d’Or.

“I’m telling you… If Mbappe wins the Ballon d’Or, it’s a real downer, and he’s gonna end up feeling mighty lonely,” Rothen said (via Rothen s’enflamme).
