The Atlanta Braves, much like all 30 MLB teams, have just one more series remaining on their schedule before the All-Star break. Atlanta is taking on the St. Louis Cardinals. 

Before the Cardinals series, the Braves made another wave of roster moves, which included cutting a 5-year MLB player. Atlanta has arguably been the most active MLB team this season in terms of roster transactions. 

The Braves cut Jose Azocar amid other roster moves

The Atlanta Braves X account wrote (on 7/9): 

“The #Braves today reinstated OF Eli White from the paternity list and designated OF José Azócar for assignment.”

Azocar had appeared in just one game for the Braves since being recalled, and he will now enter DFA limbo, where a number of things can happen. The most likely ‘next steps’ for Azocar is he accepts an outright assignment to the minors. He has played in parts of five MLB seasons. 

On July 10, the Braves announced another roster transaction ahead of their series with the Cardinals: 

“The #Braves today reinstated RHP Tyler Kinley from the paternity list and optioned RHP Hurston Waldrep to Triple-A Gwinnett.”

It seems like every single day there is a new roster move involving a pitcher, which highlights the Braves’ recent struggles finding outs from their young arms. 

However, it’s baseball, and these are the dog days of the season. The good news for the Braves is they are still 54-38, and hold a three-game lead in the NL East.
