Edo North senator, Adams Oshiomhole, has taken a swipe at the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, accusing him of collapsing Nigerian industries.

Speaking at the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential campaign rally in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital on Saturday, Oshiomhole said Atiku closed down the Michelin and Dunlop companies in the state.

He added that Atiku, who is now complaining about unemployment, should be asked what happened to the industries that used to give Nigerians jobs.

“Who closed down Nigerian industries? Who closed down Michelin? Who closed down Dunlop? Who reduced Nigeria to an importer of everything from underwear to socks? It was done by the government and party which Atiku belonged to,” Oshiomhole asked.

According to him, the government Atiku served in as Vice President under former President Olusegun Obasanjo watched those companies pack up and leave.

He said Michelin and Dunlop were big employers, adding that when they closed, thousands of workers lost their jobs.

Oshiomhole said Atiku cannot now come and promise jobs, when his own government could not protect the jobs that were already there.
