Aston Villa submit Alejandro Garnacho bid to Chelsea — reports

· · 1 min read

Chelsea’s Alejandro Garnacho experiment has returned, shall we say, disappointing results; so much so that the 22-year-old winger has been put on the transfer block just twelve months after arriving from Manchester United looking to rebuild his career. He’s not even been invited back to preseason training under Xabi Alonso (but don’t call it a Bomb Squad).

But who might take him off our hands? The only semi-serious interest had come from Italy, with AS Roma potentially interested in a loan, but Chelsea are still hoping for an actual transfer at this point.

That may not be a realistic hope, but perhaps a loan with a “conditional buy obligation”? That’s what Aston Villa are said to be mulling over, as per Fabrizio Romano and The Athletic’s David Ornstein. Romano says that an offer has actually been submitted following initial talks on Friday, while Ornstein says that the talks are “advanced”. Villa manager, Unai Emery is apparently a “big admirer”, though “nothing has been agreed” at this stage.

While I’d prefer if Garnacho went to Serie A just in case he does rediscover his mojo, we might as well get this deal done assuming the terms are decent.
