Aston Villa asks Fenerbahçe about January move for Oğuz Aydın

· · 2 min read

Aston Villa has asked Fenerbahçe about Oğuz Aydın as it considers a January move for the Turkey international, according to reports. The winger caught the English club’s attention during the teams’ Champions League meeting at Villa Park on October 14.

Turkish journalist Sercan Hamzaoğlu, whose comments were carried by SuperHaber, says Villa officials spoke to their Fenerbahçe counterparts about Aydın’s price and the conditions surrounding a possible transfer. They also asked about the club’s original investment in the player.

A separate report in Sabah, relayed by Sport Witness, says Villa is planning to follow up during the winter window. Neither report establishes an agreed fee or confirms that Fenerbahçe is prepared to sell.

Aydın played the full match in Villa’s 6-0 victory, offering one of the visiting team’s few attacking threats. He struck the crossbar and continued to trouble the home defense despite the one-sided scoreline. Sport Witness credits him with three key passes and one big chance created.

The 25-year-old is under contract until 2028. Fenerbahçe signed him from Alanyaspor in July 2024 on a four-year deal, leaving the Istanbul club with time remaining on his agreement as it weighs any interest from England.

His move to Fenerbahçe followed a productive final season at Alanyaspor. As Anadolu reported when the transfer was announced, he had contributed 13 goals and eight assists in 38 appearances across all competitions during the 2023-24 campaign.

Aydın has since remained part of Turkey’s international plans. He was included in Vincenzo Montella’s squad for the 2026 World Cup, alongside fellow attacking options Arda Güler and Kenan Yıldız.

His performance in Birmingham gave Villa an opportunity to assess him directly against Premier League opposition. The reported discussions suggest that the club’s interest has moved beyond watching from a distance, with Fenerbahçe’s valuation and willingness to negotiate now the key questions for a January approach.
