Ashton Jeanty injury update gives Raiders major sigh of relief
That sound you hear is the collective sigh of relief from the Las Vegas Raiders and Raider Nation, after receiving some great news on star running back Ashton Jeanty.
During Sunday’s practice session, Jeanty had an awkward landing while diving for an underthrown Kirk Cousins pass. Jeanty was helped off of the field by traininers and reportedly could not put any weight on his leg.
That immediately led to panic, as fans feared the worst-case scenario.
However, late Sunday night, ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport provided some positive news, reporting that Jeanty “is believed to have sprained his ankle.”
While that is positive news, the team is still unsure of how long the star running back will be sidelined.

The team has not officially commented on Jeanty’s injury, but Schefter reports it is not believed to be long term.
“The Raiders still are unsure how long he will be out, but it is not considered a long-term injury and the organization is breathing a sigh of relief tonight,” he wrote on X.
During his rookie campaign, Jeanty rushed for 975 yards and five touchdowns, while hauling in 55 catches for 346 yards and an additional five scores. He looks to be a cornerstone for the Raidres offense moving forward, so havng him healthy for the upcoming season is crucial for Las Vegas‘ turnaround.
The Raiders are set to open their 2026 regular season campaign on Sunday, September 13, at home against the Miami Dolphins. Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. ET.
