Asher Hauert, Halle Braun voted Argus Leader Athletes of the Week

Harrisburg’s Asher Hauert and Sioux Falls Christian’s Halle Braun were voted by readers as the Argus Leader’s Athletes of the Week from May 25 to 30.

Hauert won the boys Athlete of the Week with 56.0% of the vote.

Hauert impressed in the 110-meter hurdles prelims, but ran the second-fastest time in South Dakota history (14.05) to win the Class AA event and take the all-class gold medal. He also helped Harrisburg finish fifth in the 4×100-meter relay and 4×200-meter relay and sixth in the sprint medley relay.

Braun won the girls Athlete of the Week with 70.06% of the vote.

Braun won four Class A state championships on Saturday, May 30, including setting three meet records and one state record. The Pepperdine commit broke her own state mark in the 300-meter hurdles prelims (42.32) before winning the event with a 43.22 in the finals. She also won the all-class gold medal in the 200-meter dash (24.23), and set the meet record in both the 200-meter dash and 100-meter hurdles (14.41). She was also on the 4×400-meter relay team that won Class A.
