Arsenal remain keen on signing Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid, who is also a target for Barcelona.

The 26-year-old striker has been heavily linked with a move away from the La Liga club, and he could prove to be an excellent acquisition for both clubs. Barcelona need a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, and Arsenal need an upgrade on Viktor Gyokeres.

The South American had 29 goal contributions for Atletico Madrid last season, and there is no doubt that he could be an exceptional option for both clubs in the final third. He can score goals and create opportunities for his teammates. He’s quite effective with direct free kicks, and he could add a new dimension to the Arsenal or Barcelona attack.

According to reports from Sportowy, Arsenal are closely monitoring his situation, and they could look to make a move for him if Barcelona fail to get a deal done. It is believed that the player has a preference towards Barcelona, but he could be open to joining Arsenal if a move to the club does not materialise.

The report further claims that a breakthrough could be possible after 10 August when the player returns from his break. The 26-year-old is expected to submit a formal transfer request on that day.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal can agree on a deal with Atletico Madrid in the coming weeks. They have an exceptional team at their disposal, but they need to plug a few gaps if they want to truly dominate the Premier League and Europe.

Adding a reliable striker will be a priority for them this summer. They should look to add more depth on the flanks as well.
