Arsenal Monitoring Vinicius as Contract Talks Stall While Real Madrid’s Summer Plans Continue to Evolve

Arsenal are closely monitoring Vinicius Junior’s contract situation at Real Madrid as the Premier League club explores the possibility of making a move for the Brazilian winger if renewal talks fail to produce an agreement.

According to reports from The Athletic, Arsenal have identified Vinicius as one of their priority attacking targets. While no formal negotiations have taken place between the clubs, the interest is understood to have support throughout the North London club, from the boardroom to manager Mikel Arteta.

The situation hinges almost entirely on Vinicius’ contract. The Brazilian has entered the final year of his current deal, and despite months of discussions, Real Madrid and the player have yet to reach an agreement on an extension.

That uncertainty has naturally attracted attention across Europe.

Real Madrid are determined to avoid a scenario where one of their biggest stars leaves for free in 2027, particularly considering Vinicius would also be owed a significant loyalty bonus if he remains through the final year of his contract.

The 26-year-old enjoyed another productive campaign, scoring 22 goals for Real Madrid during the 2025-26 season before helping Brazil reach the Round of 16 at this summer’s World Cup. He found the net four times during the tournament before Brazil were eliminated by Norway.

The 19-year-old has emerged as one of Europe’s most sought-after young talents following an outstanding Bundesliga campaign, attracting interest from clubs including Paris Saint-Germain before Madrid moved decisively.

The approach has echoed Real Madrid’s strategy earlier this summer when they quietly completed the signing of Marc Cucurella while other clubs were still expressing interest publicly.

Diomande’s arrival would significantly strengthen Madrid’s options on the wings. While primarily a left winger like Vinicius, the Ivorian has also shown he can operate comfortably on the right, giving José Mourinho another versatile attacking option.

The signing has also effectively ended speculation linking Real Madrid with Michael Olise. Despite persistent rumors throughout the summer, the club has consistently denied making any move for the French international.

Attention now shifts back to Vinicius himself.

The Brazilian is expected to return to Valdebebas following his vacation, where discussions over his long-term future are anticipated to continue.

Despite Arsenal’s interest, Real Madrid remain focused on reaching an agreement with one of the faces of the club. However, until a new contract is signed, Europe’s elite clubs are likely to continue monitoring the situation closely.

If Diomande completes his move to Madrid, competition in the attacking department would become even fiercer. Alongside Vinicius, the squad already features Franco Mastantuono, Gonzalo García, Brahim Díaz, and several other attacking options like Rodrygo Goes who will at some point return in 2027. Madrid have already invested heavily this summer, paying transfer fees for Mourinho, Denzel Dumfries, and Marc Cucurella, while also bringing in Ibrahima Konaté and Bernardo Silva on free transfers. Even so, financing another transfer worth well into nine figures would likely require additional resources.

Camavinga is reportedly valued at no less than €70 million. Despite an underwhelming season, Real Madrid continue to view the French international as an elite talent with tremendous versatility and an impressive résumé that already includes two Champions League titles, two La Liga crowns, and eleven major trophies overall.

His reduced role last season, however, has fueled speculation.

Camavinga featured in 43 of Madrid’s 56 matches but averaged just 46 minutes per appearance when available. Injuries also limited his impact, and his campaign ended on a disappointing note after his red card in Munich, a moment that symbolized an otherwise frustrating year.

Still, the midfielder has spent the opening weeks of preseason working intensely at Valdebebas in an effort to reclaim his place.

For now, both player and club remain firm in their respective positions. Camavinga wants to stay and prove himself again, while Real Madrid remain open to listening to offers should the right proposal arrive.
