Arsenal interested in Roma’s Manu Koné

Premier League champions Arsenal are interested in AS Roma midfielder Manu Koné (25), as per a report from L’Équipe.

Koné’s contract with Roma runs until 2029 and he remains a key part of the squad, however, it is out of financial obligation that the Italian side may be forced into a sale this coming summer, Il Corrierre dello Sport reported last month.

Roma need to make sales in order to comply with UEFA’s fair play regulations. Currently, the Italian side’s wage bill is too high and therefore some of the more ‘bankable’ assets have now become available for transfer.

The Italian publication added that Italian champions Inter Milan had shown an interest in acquiring the France international, however, L’Équipe understands that they may now face competition from Arsenal, who have recently expressed their interest in doing a deal for the midfielder.

It is thought that Koné will be available for a fee between €40-50m.
