Army announces live-fire exercise in Bauchi

The Nigerian Army has alerted residents of Bauchi State to a live-fire demonstration scheduled to take place along the Bauchi-Jos Road on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

The exercise will be conducted by the Nigerian Army Armour School, Obienu Barracks, between 6 am and 6 pm.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday on behalf of the Commandant, Major General Sunday Makolo, the exercise will involve the movement of troops and military hardware, as well as the use of live ammunition and projectiles.

The statement, signed by the acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Nigerian Army Armoured Corps, Major Adekunle A. Adeyemi, urged residents not to be alarmed by the presence of soldiers or the sounds of gunfire and explosions during the exercise.

The Army warned members of the public to keep away from the designated training area throughout the exercise.

It particularly advised farmers and cattle rearers operating around Zaranda Hill and Geji village to avoid the area until the exercise is concluded.

The statement said necessary safety measures had been put in place to protect lives and property.

It also urged residents to cooperate with security personnel and obey all instructions issued during the exercise.

The Army stressed that staying away from the designated area would help prevent accidents and ensure the safety of members of the public.
