Arizona Cardinals training camp roster preview: OL Paris Johnson
The Arizona Cardinals report to training camp on July 22 and begin the process of preparing for the regular season, forming the roster and determining starting jobs and roles on the team.
Leading up to the start of camp, we will take a look at every player on the offseason roster, their background, their contract, their play in 2025, questions they face and their roster outlook.
Here is tackle Paris Johnson Jr.
Johnson enters his fourth NFL season and his fourth with the Cardinals. He was drafted sixth overall in the 2023 draft by Arizona and has been a starter every since. He started at right tackle as a rookie and has been the starting left tackle for the last two years.
Last season, his season was shortened for the second straight year with a knee injury. He played in 12 games and logged 807 offensive snaps.
Johnson is in the fourth year of his rookie contract. The Cardinals exercised his fifth-year option for 2027, which will pay him more than $19 million.
As for 2026, he will earn $1.145 million in salary and will be paid a training camp roster bonus of more than $3.4 million. He counts more than $8.9 million against the cap.
He is eligible for a contract extension.
Johnson is a lock for the roster and will start at left tackle. He has played well, but he has not yet cracked Pro Bowl level.
Can he stay healthy this season?
And when it comes to a new contract, will he agree to an extension? He would like to be a $40 million per-year tackle, but he probably isn’t there yet.
