Meta is experiencing a widespread outage once again. On June 12, 2026, numerous users reported to Downdetector that they weren’t able to load or publish posts on Facebook or Instagram. Most people were met with the classic “something went wrong” error notice while trying to load their accounts.

This isn’t the first time that the social media company has experienced a large-scale outage. One of the most notable incidents occurred on December 11, 2024, when hundreds of thousands of Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp users reported issues loading the apps.

A spokesperson for Meta acknowledged via X (formerly known as Twitter), “We’re aware that a technical issue is impacting some users’ ability to access our apps. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and apologize for any inconvenience.”
