Analyst bullish on Jim Harbaugh turning the Chargers' season around

· · 2 min read

After six games in the season and going winless in every one, the Chargers appear to be dead in the water.

They’ve shown little sign of turning things around, and it’s been a disaster for the team so far. With 11 games remaining, many believe the Chargers should sell before the deadline and do everything they can to land the No. 1 pick.

That’s certainly one thing the Chargers can do; however, Jim Harbaugh’s former assistant, Biff Poggi, doesn’t think the Bolts will roll over.

In a recent appearance on the Jim Rome show, Poggi said if anyone can turn things around, it’s Harbaugh.

“The tougher things get, the better Jim is in those situations,” Poggi said.

“He’s very optimistic; he loves the quarterback, he loves the football team. I think that they will turn it around, and I’m not just saying that because we’re dear friends. He’s an elite football coach.”

The Chargers hired Harbaugh in hopes of getting over the hump. Los Angeles showed a ton of promise in his first two seasons, winning 11 games each. Year 3 in the Harbaugh era was supposed to be the leap, but instead it’s been their worst season in 26 years.

The Chargers have endured their share of self-inflicted wounds this season, but luck hasn’t exactly been on their side either. Injuries on both sides of the ball have played a role in their struggles, especially on offense.

More than half of the offensive line has missed time due to injury, while the Chargers’ pass catchers have either dealt with injuries of their own or struggled to produce consistently.

With 11 games left, the Chargers will do everything they can to salvage it. They just hope they can do that as soon as they return from their bye week, before it’s too late.
