Human rights organization, Amnesty International, has called for a thorough investigation into the killing of an Islamic school teacher in Kaduna State.

The organization made the demand in a statement issued following the incident, which occurred on Sunday, June 21, 2026, in Mararaba Jos, a community located along the Kaduna-Zaria highway.

According to Amnesty International, there are allegations that police officers handed the teacher over to an angry mob, which subsequently killed her and set her body ablaze.

The rights group urged the police authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine whether any officers were involved in the alleged actions.

“Authorities must ensure that all those responsible for this unlawful killing are identified and brought to justice,” the organization said.

Amnesty International expressed concern over the increasing cases of mob violence driven by suspicion and unverified claims, warning that such acts undermine the rule of law and endanger innocent lives.

The organization further noted that the failure to investigate and prosecute perpetrators of mob killings has contributed to a culture of impunity, encouraging further acts of vigilante violence.

It stressed that a transparent investigation and prosecution of those found culpable would help restore public confidence in the justice system and deter similar incidents in the future.
