Alleged drug trafficking: US firm reveals fresh FBI declaration on Tinubu’s record

United States-based policy advisory and lobbying firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, has revealed fresh declaration by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, on President Bola Tinubu’s alleged drug trafficking record.

In a post on its verified X handle on Monday, the firm said a sworn declaration submitted by the FBI to a United States federal court has shown that Bola Tinubu was criminally investigated in connection with drug trafficking.

Batten-Montague-York said portions of the FBI’s sworn declaration were published after his group received ‘a huge amount of records’, which were being reviewed and redacted where necessary.

He noted that the FBI stated under oath that the court had already determined that a criminal investigation involving Tinubu had been officially acknowledged.

According to him, the declaration further indicated that the investigation was connected to heroin trafficking.

The X post quoted the FBI as stating that the responsive records were compiled in furtherance of its investigation of multiple individuals for drug-trafficking crimes.

“The documents were released to counter claims that Tinubu was never criminally investigated and was merely using the law to protect his privacy.

“The claims are false as the FBI’s sworn declaration contradicted them,” Batten-Montague-York said.

This came against the backdrop of an ongoing legal dispute in the United States over the release of records relating to Tinubu’s past, including records held by US law-enforcement agencies.
