The Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Abia State, Ugwumba Adiele, has been released by personnel of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Abuja, four days after he was arrested in Umuahia and whisked to Abuja.

Adiele was arrested last Friday based on an alleged petition written against him by the member representing Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency, Chris Nkwonta.

In the alleged petition, Nkwonta accused Ugwumba Adiele of cyber-stalking, cyber-bullying and other defamatory acts against his person.

But the PDP youth leader was released on Monday following the intervention of some Abia State politicians, including Abia South Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Uzoma Abonta, Sam Okezie Nwogu, among others.

Confirming his freedom in a statement he released, Ugwumba Adiele said:

“I have regained freedom after my incarceration at the Force CID Abuja.

“I was granted bail on Monday, September 14, 2026, after a thorough investigation and interrogation by a team of highly respected, well-trained and well-coordinated detectives of the Force CID, Abuja.”

He also thanked the Abia State chapter of the PDP, indigenes of Ukwa and other activists for their solidarity with him during his detention at FCID.
