The New York Yankees need to be active at the trade deadline, and if history repeats itself, they’re going to make the necessary moves to improve on both sides of the baseball.

The only question now for the Yankees is how big they’re willing to go, as they could go after a few arms. The biggest of the bunch would be the production that Tarik Skubal would give them.

I think the Yankees need to be all-in on him, depending on the price, but others don’t, including former Yankees legend Alex Rodriguez.

Skubal, undoubtedly the best pitcher in Major League Baseball at the moment, could give the Yankees a massive boost.

The Yankees could also go for a cheaper, different option, though they shouldn’t expect to get the same level of production from a lesser player. While I think the Yankees need to be all over Skubal, that isn’t the case for others, including former Yankees legend Alex Rodriguez.

“I would stay away from Skubal. I think he’s one of the best pitchers, if not the best pitcher in the game… If you think about the Yankees, they have probably the best starting rotation when healthy, since we won in 2009,” Rodriguez said, H/T Heavy.

I understand why Rodriguez doesn’t think the Yankees need him, as the starting rotation is very good. However, I’d still argue that adding a starter of his caliber for any contending team would be a wise decision, even if they feel they have enough pitching.
