Alausa applauds Kano’s education investment as 8,588 teachers, facilitators receive appointment letters

The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, has commended the Kano State Government for prioritising education following the presentation of appointment letters to 4,900 newly recruited teachers and 3,688 Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) Cohort V Facilitators.

Alausa gave the commendation during an official ceremony in Kano attended by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

According to the minister, the recruitment exercise brings the total number of educators employed by the state in a single exercise to nearly 9,000 and over 16,000 within the last three years.

He described quality teachers as the foundation of every strong education system and said Kano’s investment in human capital would help shape the future of the nation.

The minister also praised the state government’s decision to allocate 32 per cent of its budget to education, describing it as a clear demonstration of commitment to improving learning outcomes for children across the state.

Addressing the newly recruited teachers, Alausa urged them to discharge their duties with professionalism, integrity and excellence.

“Teaching is the profession that shapes every other profession, and to whom much is given, much is expected,” he said.
As part of his final day activities in Kano, the minister inspected the Tarda Smart School in Ungogo, visited Bayero University, Kano, and commissioned the new Government Girls Secondary School in Dangwaro.

He said the investments in smart learning environments, teacher quality and expanded access to education align with efforts to equip young Nigerians with the knowledge and skills required to succeed in the 21st century.

Alausa added that the Federal Government would continue to work in partnership with state governments under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to implement the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI).

According to him, the initiative is focused on strengthening teacher quality, expanding access to education, modernising learning infrastructure and developing the human capital needed to position Nigeria as a knowledge-based economy.
