Air Peace cancels Warri-Lagos flight after bird strike incident

Air Peace has suspended a scheduled flight from Warri to Lagos following a bird strike involving one of its aircraft during landing at Osubi Airport in Delta State.

The airline disclosed the development in a statement issued on Friday by its spokesperson, Osifo-Whiskey Efe, explaining that the aircraft was immediately withdrawn from service for safety inspections after the incident.

According to the airline, engineers conducted preliminary assessments upon the aircraft’s arrival and identified the need for additional examinations of the landing gear.

“Preliminary inspections revealed the need for further checks on the landing gear, necessitating the grounding of the aircraft in accordance with established aviation safety procedures,” the statement said.

As a result of the development, Air Peace announced the cancellation of the aircraft’s scheduled return flight from Osubi to Lagos.

The carrier said arrangements had been put in place to minimise the impact on affected passengers, including providing hotel accommodation in Osubi pending the completion of their travel plans.

Air Peace expressed regret over the disruption and apologised to passengers for the inconvenience caused by the cancellation.

Reaffirming its commitment to passenger safety, the airline stressed that operational decisions are always guided by strict adherence to safety regulations and industry standards.

“At Air Peace, safety remains our foremost priority,” the airline stated.
