AFCON qualifiers: Guinea-Bissau players react after 3-0 thrashing of Nigeria

Guinea-Bissau players have reacted to their unexpected 3-0 bashing of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Speaking on behalf of the team after the game, Norberto Bercique Gomes Betuncal, commonly called Beto, said they must sustain their successful performance trajectory.

Guinea-Bissau thrashed Nigeria 3-0 in their second game of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifying match played at the 24 de Setembro National Stadium in Bissau.

Franculino Djú, Mama Baldé.and Álvaro Djaló each contributed goals for the home team.

Guinea-Bissau has maintained an unblemished record in the ongoing the AFCON qualifying campaign, having secured a 2-0 victory against Tanzania before their commanding performance against the Super Eagles.

Beto spoke on behalf of his teammates, saying, as quoted by O Democrata, “There are still several games to be played. Therefore, we need to continue playing well and winning in order to achieve our goals.”

The 28-year-old cautioned his teammates against overconfidence as they are  scheduled to face Nigeria once more in Uyo in March 2027.
