AFCON 2027Q: Guinea-Bissau coach unfazed by pitch ahead of Super Eagles clash

Guinea-Bissau head coach, Emiliano Té has played down concerns surrounding the condition of the pitch at the September 24 Stadium in Bissau.

The Djurtus will host the Super Eagles in a 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying Matchday 2 encounter on Tuesday (today).

The playing surface has come under scrutiny following persistent rainfall in the Guinea-Bissau capital, with the heavy downpour leaving parts of the pitch saturated ahead of the Group L encounter.

The Super Eagles trained at the stadium on Monday, giving the players an opportunity to assess the surface before the crucial fixture.

Despite the concerns, Té insisted that the condition of the pitch was beyond the control of both teams and said his side would have to deal with the circumstances.

“We are playing in Africa and we know that our pitch is not one of the best, but it is what it is. It is what we have, and we cannot do anything about it,” Té said at his pre-match press conference.

The highly anticipated encounter will kick off at 5 p.m. Nigerian time.
