This result ensures Pitso Mosimane’s second stint as South Africa head coach started with victory.

In the other game of the day, Kenya played out a 1-1 draw with Eritrea.

Eritrea had taken the lead through Nahom Girmai Netabay in the 36th minute, before Ryan Ogam’s late goal salvaged a point for Harambee Stars.
