African Democratic Congress, ADC, has defended the conduct of its primary elections in Katsina State, insisting the exercise was free, fair and transparent despite allegations of manipulation by some aggrieved aspirants.

The party’s Katsina State Chairman, Alhaji Lawal Batagarawa, stated this during an interview with JBC Hausa, saying it was expected that some contestants would be dissatisfied with the outcome of the primaries.

According to him, every election produces winners and losers, and it is not unusual for unsuccessful aspirants to raise concerns or make allegations after losing.

Batagarawa maintained that the party followed due process throughout the exercise, dismissing claims that the primaries were manipulated.

He said the ADC remained committed to reconciling aggrieved members and would continue engaging those dissatisfied with the outcome in the interest of party unity.

“We conducted the primary elections in Katsina State in a transparent, free and fair manner.

Allegations that the process was manipulated are false, and we will continue our efforts to reconcile those who are dissatisfied with the outcome,” he said.
