AC Milan joins race for Benfica midfielder Rios
AC Milan is interested in Benfica midfielder Richard Rios, according to various reports.
The Colombian international is attracting attention after a strong first season in Portugal. Napoli and Milan have reportedly made exploratory contacts, while Bournemouth and Atletico Madrid are also keeping an eye on his situation.
Rios joined Benfica from Palmeiras last year in a deal worth around €27 million. He made 56 appearances during the 2025/26 campaign, scoring eight goals and adding seven assists, and his contract runs until 2030.
Benfica is in a strong position because the midfielder has a €100 million release clause. That does not mean an interested club would have to go that high to open talks, but it does make clear that Benfica has no need to sell cheaply.
Milan’s interest is especially interesting after the appointment of Ruben Amorim as head coach. The Rossoneri are expected to reshape the squad this summer, and Rios’ energy, physicality, and ball-carrying ability would fit the profile of a midfield addition.
