Abiodun’s Ex-CoS Taiwo vows to deploy Ogun govt experience for Yewa South/Ipokia

Dr. Oluwatoyin Emmanuel Taiwo, former Chief of Staff to Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has pledged to deploy his wealth of government experience, extensive network and goodwill to provide effective representation and attract meaningful development to the people of Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency if elected to the House of Representatives in 2027.

Taiwo, who also served as Commissioner for Culture and Tourism and Deputy Chief of Staff in the Ogun State Government, said his experience across different levels of public administration had equipped him with the knowledge, contacts and institutional understanding required to effectively represent the constituency at the National Assembly.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Ipokia on Saturday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate said he would bring his experience in government and the private sector to bear on his legislative responsibilities, stressing that effective representation required more than occupying a seat in the National Assembly.

He said his practical understanding of government processes, policy formulation and implementation, administration and stakeholder engagement would enable him to identify opportunities for the constituency and pursue them through the appropriate federal institutions.

Taiwo assured constituents that his representation would be visible, accessible and firmly anchored on their needs, promising to remain actively engaged with both the business of the National Assembly and the development concerns of the constituency.

“I will not be a representative that the people will only see during elections. I will remain accessible and maintain a strong connection with the constituency while also being fully engaged with the business of the National Assembly,” he said.

The APC candidate pledged to use his network and goodwill to attract federal projects, programmes and interventions to Yewa South and Ipokia, particularly in education, agriculture, healthcare, infrastructure, youth development, skills acquisition and employment.

He, however, stressed that attracting projects would only be meaningful if such projects were properly implemented and delivered value to the people.

“Any project attracted to our constituency must be properly monitored. It is not enough to have projects on paper; we must ensure that they are implemented properly and that the people receive the value for which those projects were provided,” Taiwo said.

The former Chief of Staff said his close working relationship with Governor Abiodun had given him valuable insight into the workings of government and the ability to navigate the institutional processes required to translate development objectives into tangible results.

According to him, his tenure as Commissioner for Culture and Tourism further exposed him to policy execution, stakeholder management and the administration of a government ministry, while his private-sector experience broadened his understanding of investment, enterprise and economic development.

He said the combination of these experiences would strengthen his capacity to build productive relationships with federal ministries, departments and agencies, as well as development institutions, in the interest of the constituency.

Taiwo also pledged regular consultations with traditional rulers, community leaders, youth and women’s groups, professionals, farmers, business owners and other stakeholders across Yewa South and Ipokia.

He maintained that effective legislative representation should not be measured only by speeches, motions or presence on the floor of the National Assembly, but by the ability to identify the needs of the people, secure appropriate interventions, monitor their implementation and remain accountable to the electorate.

The former Chief of Staff expressed confidence that his combined public- and private-sector experience would position him to effectively navigate the federal system and establish stronger connections between Yewa South/Ipokia and relevant government and development institutions.

He therefore appealed to the people of the constituency to entrust him with their mandate in 2027, assuring them that he would bring his experience as a former Chief of Staff, Commissioner and private-sector professional to bear in building a more visible, responsive, accessible and development-focused representation for Yewa South/Ipokia.
