Abia monarch, Eze Kalu Ukoha dies after 35 years on throne

The Paramount Ruler of Ebem Ohafia Ancient Kingdom, Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, Eze Ukoha Kalu Ukoha, is dead.

Eze Ukoha died at the age of 89, after ruling his community for 35 years.

The death of the monarch was confirmed by the executive members of the Ebem Ohafia Development Union, EODU, as well as the Ebem Ohafia Council of Chiefs and Elders.

The confirmation message, made available to journalists by the Publicity Secretary of the community, Ifeanyi Okali, said:

“Until his passing, HRH Eze Ukoha was the Ezieogo/Paramount Ruler of Ebem Ujuruezie, Ohafia, and Kpoke I of Ekeluogo Ebem Autonomous Community, in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State.

“The sad event occurred on Saturday, September 26, 2026, leaving the entire Ebem Ohafia community and all who knew and respected him in mourning.”

Eze Ukoha Kalu Ukoha, during his reign as king, maintained peace in his community, sustained the campaign against drug abuse among youths and led offensives against criminal elements.

He was also known in Abia State as a traditional ruler who refused to bestow honours on suspected criminals.
