Aaron Rodgers eyes historic Terry Bradshaw Steelers record

· · 2 min read

Aaron Rodgers stands on the precipice of Pittsburgh Steelers history. If the veteran quarterback can deliver another multi-touchdown performance on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, he will etch his name alongside a franchise immortal.

Entering the matchup, Rodgers is aiming for his third consecutive outing with three or more touchdown passes. According to Mike Florio on “Pro Football Talk,” achieving the feat would make him just the second quarterback in the organization’s historic lineage to record such a stretch, joining Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw.

“As to Aaron Rodgers, he hasn’t thrown three or more touchdown passes in three straight games since his MVP season of 2021,” Florio noted. “If he can do it again on Sunday, making it his third straight game with three or more touchdown passes, he will join Terry Bradshaw as the only quarterbacks in Steelers history to have three straight games with three or more touchdown passes.”

Bradshaw originally set the mark during the strike-shortened 1982 campaign, a stretch that ultimately served as his last full year under center for Pittsburgh.

“Bradshaw did it in 1982, which ultimately was his final year with the team with an asterisk,” Florio explained.

That season preceded off-season elbow surgery and marked the twilight of Bradshaw’s iconic career, during which he appeared in just one more game before retiring.

Remarkably, despite two decades of elite play and two Super Bowl titles, Ben Roethlisberger never achieved three consecutive games with 3+ passing touchdowns. That leaves Rodgers, in the midst of his late-career chapter in Black and Gold, with an immediate opportunity to accomplish what legendary Pittsburgh passers could not.

A heavy aerial attack on Sunday wouldn’t just fuel Pittsburgh’s offensive momentum; it would secure Rodgers a unique place in franchise lore.
