The revamped Philadelphia 76ers have fans dreaming of winning an NBA championship this season, but for LeBron James, a veteran of many NBA Finals appearances, it’s not going to be that simple. Talent alone is not going to get the 76ers to the promised land, as per Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

“We’re looking forward to the challenge. Obviously nothing is given, but we can put the work in,” James said. “We’re very talented on paper, but we got to take that paper to this floor right here and put in the work and get better, one percent better every day.”

It wasn’t just LeBron James whom the 76ers added this offseason that has fans pining for a championship run, the team also traded for Jaylen Brown. Brown was the 2024 Finals MVP with the Boston Celtics, and he gives the team another proven playoff star.

That’s not to mention the budding stars the 76ers already have in Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe, and former MVP Joel Embiid. The organization also retooled the bench, adding key depth pieces like Dean Wade, Anfernee Simons and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.

But the potential success for the 76ers does hinge a bit on the team’s soon-to-be 42-year-old star. This past season, James showed no real signs of decline in his game. Although he dealt with little nagging injuries, he still averaged 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 1.2 steals with splits of 51.5 percent shooting from the field, 31.7 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 73.7 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
