LeBron James isn’t too keen on playing at center, but he knows there will be times when he has that responsibility following the Philadelphia 76ers’ 106-93 loss to the Detroit Pistons on Sunday night.

James is going through the 24th season of his legendary career, his first with the 76ers. The veteran superstar built a reputation on being able to play multiple positions, even playing at center against some of the best big men in the league throughout his career.

James had to play at the position this time around. Joel Embiid was absent due to injury as James took his place in the lineup while Philadelphia utilized a different lineup.

James reflected on the center situation after the game, per reporter Kris Rhim. He stated he doesn’t want to be active at the center position, but he knows there are situations where the team will put him in that role in case of injuries to the frontcourt.

“I’m not here to have a sustainable role at the five … but it’s a role that we know we can tap into if we need it,” James said.

How LeBron James, 76ers played against Pistons

LeBron James and the 76ers missed Joel Embiid’s presence at center. They were unable to keep up with the Pistons in the underwhelming home loss.

Philadelphia suffered a slow start on defense. They trailed 34-22 after the first quarter, a deficit they failed to recover from before falling in the loss.
